Teacher FAQ
What is Songcraft?
Songcraft is a browser-based game where students practice reading standard notation. Teachers get a portal to manage classes and track how students are doing.
Is Songcraft a music notation game or a music theory game?
Both. Students read and play real notation, and the challenge systems build music theory skills over time.
Can I use Songcraft for sight reading practice?
Yes. Students can loop passages, adjust tempo, and use a built-in metronome to build a repeatable sight reading routine.
Does Songcraft work for mixed-ability classrooms?
Yes. Five difficulty tiers let teachers match the challenge to each student's level.
Can students practice independently?
Yes. Students can practice on their own devices while teachers circulate, coach, and review progress.
Does Songcraft support music memory practice?
Yes. In memory mode, the notation disappears and students play from recall.
What kind of assessment does Songcraft provide?
Every note is scored for timing and pitch accuracy, so teachers can see exactly what to reteach.
Can I run full-class sessions?
Yes. Teachers can launch synchronized classroom play sessions so students participate together while still playing from individual devices.
How many instruments are supported?
Over 20, including keyboard, winds, brass, strings, and percussion.
Is AI song generation available to teachers now?
Not yet. It works internally, but we haven't opened it up to teachers. It's on the roadmap.

Business and product FAQ
What makes Songcraft different from other music education software?
Most music ed software is either a game with no teacher tools or a teacher tool with no game. Songcraft has both: game-based notation practice with note-level scoring, class play, and a teacher portal.
What market does Songcraft serve?
K-12 music classrooms, mostly general music and beginning instrument programs. Any setting where teachers need students reading notation regularly.
Is Songcraft a curriculum replacement?
No. Songcraft is a daily practice and assessment tool that works alongside your existing curriculum.
What is the current AI roadmap position?
AI song generation works internally but isn't available to teachers yet. It's on the roadmap.
How is product quality validated?
It's built and tested in real classrooms. Updates come directly from teacher feedback.
Does Songcraft have district expansion potential?
Yes. Because it runs in a browser with no installs, districts can roll it out across schools without new hardware or IT overhead.
How does Songcraft approach retention and engagement?
Daily challenges, progress tracking, and game-style progression give students a reason to come back and practice.
